  • To provide high school baseball players in the greater Charlotte area with the opportunity to improve their skills and showcase their talents.

  • To provide high level of coaching and instruction, as well as competitive summer and fall league play that will give the players the opportunity to display their drive and potential to excel.

  • To allow coaches to keep players together for summer & fall league play to help develop "TEAM CHEMISTRY"
  • To offer parents a viable alternative to the baseball academy or travel teams.

Player Selection Process

Each high school coach / school zone may a team or teams in the Metro League. We encourage teams to be formed using a fair system that will include and offer a roster spot to as many players as possible with the baseball skills and potential skills to compete at a high school playing level.

We will form open Metro teams comprised of players whose school or coaches have decided not to participate. Players will be evaluated during tryouts. Players will be evaluated on fundamental baseball skills, attitude and hustle. Teams will be a selected in late April and early May. In order to be eligible to play on an open metro team players need to complete the online tryout registration form and attend our scheduled tryouts. TRYOUT REGISTRATION FORM Registered players will be notified prior to tryouts with time and location.

Player Eligibility

Players must be at least 15 years old by July 31, 2008, to be eligible. Graduating seniors, or players that have aged out of their high school eligibility (cannot turn 19 before Oct. 16th of said school year), will not be eligible for the Metro League, as one of the purposes is to help prepare for the next year’s high school season.

Team Composition

The NCHSAA allows us one team per school where high school coaches are involved. Teams will be formed using high school boundaries as a guide. School zones may be combined on one team. The goal will always be to insure competitive teams. Each team will have a minimum 12 players and up to 18 players on a roster.

League Play

The Summer Season will be comprised of 15 league games plus an end of season tournament. The Fall Season will be comprised of 15 league games plus an end of season tournament. Typically there will be 4-5 events per week (games & practices) weather permitting.

***Note: The Metro League games, and especially the end of season tournaments, will be promoted to scouts and college recruiters. We have received a great response, and expect they will support our 2008 season as they did in 2007!
